7 Signs Your Commercial Air Conditioning System Needs Attention
September 9, 2026Daikin R32 Heat Recovery VRV Installation – Office HVAC Upgrade

Our engineers have recently completed the installation of a new Daikin R32 Heat Recovery VRV system for a customer’s office, replacing an ageing R410A system with a modern, energy-efficient alternative.
The project was designed to provide reliable and efficient heating and cooling throughout the office while reducing the environmental impact associated with the existing R410A equipment.
Replacing an Ageing R410A VRV System
As commercial HVAC systems age, efficiency, reliability and the availability of suitable replacement equipment can become increasingly important considerations for building owners and facilities managers.
For this project, the existing R410A VRV equipment was replaced with the latest generation of Daikin R32 Heat Recovery VRV technology, providing our customer with a modern system designed around the requirements of their office.
The upgrade also represents a significant improvement in terms of refrigerant environmental impact. R32 has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675, compared with 2,088 for R410A, representing an approximately 68% reduction in GWP.
The Installation
The new Daikin heat recovery system was installed to serve 12 indoor units positioned throughout the office.
Rather than using a single type of indoor unit throughout the building, the system incorporates a mixture of:
- Wall-mounted units
- Floor-standing units
- Ceiling cassette units
This allowed the indoor equipment to be selected according to the layout, usage and practical requirements of the individual office areas.
The outdoor condensing units were professionally positioned and installed on anti-vibration feet, helping to minimise the transmission of vibration into the supporting structure while providing a secure and tidy finished installation.
Careful consideration throughout the installation ensures that the finished system not only performs as intended but is installed to a high professional standard.
Heat Recovery for Improved Energy Efficiency
One of the key advantages of the new system is heat recovery technology.
Unlike a conventional system that operates solely in either heating or cooling mode, a heat recovery VRV system can provide simultaneous heating and cooling to different areas of the building.
This is particularly beneficial in commercial office environments, where different areas can have very different heating and cooling requirements at the same time.
For example, an office with high solar gain or significant IT equipment may require cooling while another part of the building requires heating.
The heat recovery system can transfer energy from areas requiring cooling to areas requiring heating. By making use of energy already available within the system, the amount of additional energy required can be reduced, helping to improve overall system efficiency.
The Benefits of Moving from R410A to R32
Replacing the existing system provided an opportunity to move away from older R410A technology and install a modern R32 solution.
Alongside its significantly lower GWP, the new system provides our customer with a modern commercial HVAC solution offering:
Improved energy efficiency
Modern VRV technology provides precise control of heating and cooling output to match the requirements of the building.
Heat recovery
Energy can be transferred between areas requiring cooling and those requiring heating, improving overall system efficiency.
Flexible comfort control
Multiple indoor units allow individual areas of the office to be controlled according to their requirements.
Reduced refrigerant environmental impact
R32 has a considerably lower GWP than R410A, reducing the climate impact associated with the refrigerant charge.
Modern replacement technology
Replacing ageing equipment provides the customer with a modern system designed to deliver reliable performance for the years ahead.
A Complete Commercial HVAC Upgrade
The completed installation provides the customer with an efficient and flexible heating and cooling solution tailored to the requirements of their office.
From the selection of the different indoor unit types through to the positioning and mounting of the outdoor equipment, our engineers delivered a professional installation with careful attention to both performance and workmanship.
Projects like this demonstrate the benefits of taking a planned approach to replacing ageing R410A VRV and VRF equipment. Rather than waiting for an older system to reach the point of failure, businesses can consider their replacement options in advance and take advantage of improvements in energy efficiency, refrigerant technology and system performance.
