Welcome to Oscar!

We’re delighted to welcome Oscar to the team at Mattair as our newest Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer.

Oscar recently completed his NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems and joins Mattair with three years of hands-on industry experience gained while working for a specialist refrigeration contractor. Throughout this time, he has developed a strong technical understanding of refrigeration and HVAC systems, alongside valuable practical experience across installation, commissioning, servicing, and system design.

During his career so far, Oscar has worked on a wide range of industrial and performance-critical refrigeration and climate control systems. His experience includes involvement in the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of specialist applications where system reliability, efficiency, and precise environmental control are essential. This includes working with low-GWP refrigeration technologies such as CO₂ and A2L refrigerants, helping support the industry’s ongoing transition towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible cooling solutions.

Oscar has also gained experience across specialist applications including environmental test chambers, industrial process cooling systems, packaged plant equipment, and ducted air systems. Through this work, he has developed a strong understanding of both the technical and practical challenges involved in delivering high-performance refrigeration and HVAC solutions within demanding environments.

Alongside his technical abilities, Oscar has already earned recognition within the industry through the 2025 ACR Cooling Industry Awards. He achieved 3rd place in the Refrigeration Apprentice of the Year category and was also named a finalist for Air Conditioning Apprentice of the Year — a fantastic achievement and reflection of his commitment, technical knowledge, and work ethic.
