Mattair – Supporting Youth Bowling

Mattair were delighted to be able to support Alfie Bowdery when he competed at the British Tenpin Bowling Associations Youth National Championship in May at Dunstable.  He won a total of 3 medals (2 gold and 1 bronze) out of a possible 4 in his division.

Alfie bowls for Shipley Youth Bowling Club at GoBowling Shipley Lanes alongside over 40 other bowlers aged from 8 – 22.

Shipley has a long tradition of developing bowlers with many going on to represent both West Yorkshire and England with bowlers representing England at the European Men’s Championships in Helsinki, Finland, the IBF Under 21 World Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden and at the European Youth Championships in Wittlesheim, France.

At the end of 2021, Alfie won first place in Division D of the National High Scratch Series Tournament posting a 3 game total of 509 with a high scratch game of 220 pins.

At the start of 2022, Alfie moved up a division in the Youth Bowling England Tour rankings and currently sits 4th in the national tour.

We wish Alfie every success over the coming weeks when he will be competing in several tournaments including the National ‘Classic’ Singles and North of England Trios.

Good Luck Alfie!
